Omega Xi Delta has been thoroughly involved in the community both on and off campus. Every year we extend our helping hands to Ocean View Elementary School’s Harvest Festival, St. Jude Hospital’s “Up Till Dawn”, co-host Lantern Festival, and invite minority high students to spend an entire weekend on campus during Polycultural Weekend. Recently we have started on a grass roots campaign known as F.O.O. to help spread awareness about modern day human trafficking.
F.O.O. stands for “Friends of Omega”. This is part of our campaign here at Cal Poly, on behalf of Polaris Project, to raise awareness about the several injustices that go on in the world with one in particular being human trafficking in which human beings are sold into the sex industry, forced into labor, domestic servitude, or used as involuntary organ donors. This is a grassroots campaign with community members across the United States sharing one goal: to combat human trafficking.
