My name is Felix Ramirez Rodarte, and I am a 3rd year animal science major here at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. It is my pleasure to be serving as the president of Omega Xi Delta Fraternity for the 2018-2019 academic year. As an organization, we pride ourselves on three core virtues: brotherhood, cultural awareness, and gentleman-like conduct. As a fraternity with 143 total members since our establishment in 1994, our bonds in brotherhood are second to none. With an active house of 22, our members know each other on a deep, personal level that provides a home away from home for each of our brothers.
Our goal as an Asian-interest fraternity is to spread awareness of all cultures to the community surrounding us. We accomplish this by supporting cultural events on campus such as CultureFest, PolyCultural Weekend, and various other events hosted by the MultiCultural Center. We also host an annual event on campus alongside the lovely ladies of Chi Delta Theta called Lantern Festival. This event, held during the spring quarter, invites cultural organizations on campus to come together for a day to sell cultural food and showcase their talents through performances. It is open to the public and allows the people of San Luis Obispo and the surrounding areas to educate themselves on the vast array of cultures present here at Cal Poly. It is also the largest celebration of Asian American culture on the Central Coast, a title we are extremely proud of.
As gentlemen of Omega Xi Delta, we hold our brothers to a high standard of integrity and respect. Gentleman-like conduct is not confined to just opening the door for someone or saying “please” and “thank you;” it is a way of life and represents how a person wishes to carry themselves. Each one of our members exemplifies what it means to be a gentleman, and I am confident that all of these brothers will continue to exhibit the traits of an Omega long after their time here in college has ended. This is only a snapshot of everything that is Omega Xi Delta; please feel free to browse the website to find out more about our one-of-a-kind organization.
